It’s easy enough to purchase a cake for a baby shower, but it’s less expensive and a great deal of fun to create one. Plus it allso for easy personalization of colors or themes. For parties, cup cakes are always a hit as they are super easy to serve and well, everyone seems to love a good cupcake!
For my daughter’s baby shower, I made this simple Baby Rattle Cup Cake design using strawberry and chocolate cup cakes along strawberry glaze frosting, and a few colored frostings (made by simply adding food coloring to white frosting.) The only tools I used were cupcake pans, a spatula for spreading glaze frosting, and a simple cake decorating kit like the Wilton Master Tip Set
To create the glaze, I used a simple white frosting recipe and added bit of (non-alcohol) strawberry margarita mixer (trust me, this tastes super yummy.) The liquid thins out the frosting and creates a glaze effect (as you can see on the handle of the rattle.)
The assembly is super easy. I taped butcher block paper over a baking tray and arranged the cupcakes in a rattle shape, then decorated in a very simple baby rattle-like pattern. Though the end result looks great, there’s no expert skill needed to create this very simple cake design.
