Paper loot bags

Halloween is one of the most exciting holidays that children look forward to with their parents as they plan what costumes to wear, where to go and other fun-filled activities.

I love planning my children’s Halloween parties and other than figuring out the most attractive (and scariest) costumes, I also enjoy buying stuff for “trick or treat” giveaways which I place in nice little loot bags that my children and I usually make. There are two kinds of loot bags that can be made, paper loot bags from small paper bags that can be bought by bulk.  Another are from plain cloth bags I get free from my shopping. Sometimes, I would buy small plain cloth bags in different colors. Next step is to look for several spooky designs.

Materials for paper loot bags

• Small paper bags
• Construction papers (orange, black)
• Pencil and pencil crayons
• Small plastic insects and stickers for decoration
• Scissors
• Glue

Find Halloween designs that would fit the small paper bags. Using pencil, outline the design on the construction paper and cut out and glue onto bags. Decorate design with plastic insects and stickers. Fill with candies and chocolates.

Cloth loot bag

Materials for cloth loot bags

• Small cloth bags
• Pieces of cloth (preferably orange, black)
• Pencil
• Black and orange sewing thread
• Needle
• Glue
• Small buttons

Look for Halloween designs that would fit the small cloth bags. Using pencil, outline the design on the small pieces of orange or black cloth and cut out. Glue or sew the small cut out design onto the cloth bags. The color of the thread must be the same as the color of the cut-out design.  Fill with candies and chocolates.
